PUPPET WORKSHOP – www.puppetfarm.org
Dear Friends,
As we say goodbye to 2010, we look back at the past year and a half of events and programming since the center opened with gratitude to all of you who have helped to support Many Ways of Peace. Your donations make our programming possible.
We are excited to announce that we will be bringing a peace festival to Eagle River on July 9, 2011. Programming on peace, justice, and sustainability, as well as food, music and creativity will all be part of the day. A highlight of the event will be giant puppets created by local community volunteers under the direction of Puppet Farm Arts. Puppet Farm Arts (formerly of Ashland Wisconsin and currently in Minneapolis) created the first giant peace dove, like the one that we have at Many Ways of Peace, which is now a part of Roots and Shoots International Day of Peace celebrations all over the world. (www.puppetfarm.org) The magic of theatrical pageantry puppetry has long been used across cultures to create awareness, inspire and enliven community. Puppet Farm artists will come to Eagle River in late June or early July (date pending) and you, your kids and grandkids will have the chance to learn to create giant parade and pageant puppets out of recycled materials for our peace festival. Some of these puppets will also appear in the local Independence Day parade.
We have been offered an anonymous thousand dollar challenge grant to help bring Puppet Farm Arts to Many Ways of Peace this summer. We are asking you to energize this project by supporting Many Ways of Peace with your financial contribution. What a great opportunity for young people to save their pennies and contribute as well. The amount that you donate will be doubled up to one thousand dollars. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and is tax deductible. Your checks may be made out to Many Ways of Peace and mailed to Puppet Project, Many Ways of Peace, PO Box 189, Eagle River, WI 54521. Please indicate whether you’d like us to send you a receipt for your records. Many Ways of Peace is a project of the MJ Berner Foundation for Peace and Justice, Inc.
Many thanks and Happy New Year,
Debra Ketchum Jircik
